In the video below, CDLRA Executive Director, Dr. Nicole Johnson, shares important news about the 2025 Pan-Canadian surveys and our very first live event (a virtual Emerging Technologies Symposium) that will take place this fall. In the past, the CDLRA has conducted two surveys, both of which have informed the CDLRA’s Pan-Canadian report, which is usually released in January. For 2025, the CDLRA has done things differently!

This spring, the CDLRA ran a Digital Learning Trends Survey, and the survey asked about trends related to online learning, hybrid learning, OER, faculty preferences, and student preferences. These are all topics that the CDLRA has been tracking for years to identify trends.

This year, the Pan-Canadian Report will be fully based on that single survey and it will be all about trends. It will be released in September.

However, the CDLRA is still running two surveys this year, because there are a lot of important topics that have come up in the field, such as the ongoing issues with AI and different technologies that are being used and integrated into teaching and learning. To capture insights on these topics, the CDLRA is running a survey in the fall, like they’ve already done, but it will be focused entirely on emerging technologies. The 2025 Emerging Technologies Survey is open now and will close on October 17.

The results of the Emerging Technologies Survey will be shared during the CDLRA’s first-ever virtual event, an Emerging Technologies Symposium that will be free to attend!
